Phil is a Silicon Valley veteran, with more than 30 years of experience building and leading breakout technology companies. Phil co-founded Marketo in 2006, and has led the company’s product vision and unique marketing and sales strategy to help Marketo become an acknowledged leader in digital marketing technology. Before Marketo, Phil was President and COO of Epiphany, a public enterprise software company known for its revolutionary marketing and analytics products. Earlier, he was COO at Red Brick Systems and held leadership positions at Metaphor Computer Systems, Stanford University Medical Center, and Masstor Systems. Phil is a well-known writer and speaker on topics related to digital marketing, marketing automation, big data, and entrepreneurialism, and is the author of Revenue Disruption (Wiley, 2012), which delivers bold new strategies for any company to transform its sales and marketing to accelerate revenue growth. Phil holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Stanford University.
Steve Winter is the Executive Vice President responsible for Global Field Operations at Marketo. A strategic executive with more than 20 years of experience, Steve previously held a number of key leadership positions at SAP. Most recently, he served as SAP’s global head of its Customer Line of Business Organization. During Winter’s nine years at SAP, he held several global leadership roles prior to heading its Customer LBO, including as the global head of Emerging Solutions for SAP where he was responsible for field and customer operations related to strategic solutions and new acquisition sales integration. Steve also served as the managing director for SAP UKI and as chief operating officer (COO) for SAP North America. Steve has held several other sales leadership roles for SAP including executive vice president of Enterprise Sales for SAP North America. Steve joined SAP in 2005 after a 12-year tenure with PeopleSoft, where he held various executive sales management roles, including vice president and general manager of the company’s Midwest region in Chicago. Steve was a founding partner of Sagebrook Technology Partners, where he focused on investment portfolio management, technology acquisitions, and organizational development from 1999 to 2003. In addition to his time with Sagebrook, Steve also served as interim CEO/president of Isochron Data Corporation from July 2000 through June 2001. Steve holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration of computer information systems from Georgia State University. Steve currently sits on the Board of Directors for Ziosk.
Jason is a proven technology executive with over 15 years in leadership roles within traditional and SaaS companies. As COO, he’s charged with driving Marketo’s broad growth initiatives, unifying management of strategy, execution, and accountability of the entire organization as Marketo continues to grow. Jason previously held the position of chief customer officer, where he capitalized on his deep digital marketing domain expertise, customer knowledge, and customer passion to lead Marketo’s programs required to scale a world-class organization to meet the demands of a rapidly-growing customer base. Before joining Marketo, Jason held senior positions at Adobe Systems, Omniture (acquired by Adobe Systems), and Oracle. Jason holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Arizona State University and an MBA in marketing from Northern Illinois University.
Chandar is in charge of positioning Marketo as the marketing industry’s innovation leader and best solution for high-growth and enterprise businesses. He was promoted to CMO from his role as group vice president of marketing in August 2016. Since joining Marketo two years earlier, Chandar built Marketo’s product, solution, and corporate marketing teams. A seasoned enterprise executive, he was previously with Badgeville where he oversaw the company’s worldwide marketing efforts including product and corporate marketing and demand generation. Prior to that he served as vice president of product and channel marketing for IBM Cast Iron. Chandar also spent time at Andersen Consulting as an advisor to Fortune 500 companies in the high-tech, retail, and oil and gas industries. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from PSG College of Technology in India and a master of science in management from the University of Texas.
Brian has 25-plus years of experience leading finance and accounting organizations through high growth, including 3 IPOs. As CFO, he is responsible for global financial reporting and compliance, financial planning and analysis, investor relations, and driving continuous process and system improvements to support the company’s growing operations. Brian was previously group vice president of finance. Prior to joining Marketo, Brian held a variety of finance leadership roles at SuccessFactors (acquired by SAP), CoTherix, Inc. (acquired by Actelion Pharmaceuticals), ClearSwift, and DigitalThink, among others. He began his career as an auditor at KPMG, earned a B.S. in accounting and MBA (finance concentration) from St. Mary’s College of California.
Nick is responsible for global engineering, product management and cloud operations, including privacy services, at Marketo. Nick brings nearly 20 years of experience in product development, information technologies and customer service. Prior to Marketo, Nick managed development and revenue generating data centers for other leading companies, including CollabNet, Portera, and 3DO. He also served as the Chief Technologist for Lucasfilm where his team was at the forefront of inventing digital asset management solutions for the film industry during the creation of Star Wars Episode I. Nick holds a Bachelor of Science in Business/IT and he also holds a Masters in Business Administration from California State University.
Margo is responsible for Marketo's worldwide legal affairs and compliance. She has extensive experience representing public and private technology companies in M & A, commercial, compliance, litigation, IP, policy, privacy and international law matters. Most recently, Margo served as Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer at QuinStreet (NASDAQ: QNST), a digital marketing and media company. Margo previously was Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Verigy (NASDAQ: VRGY), now a part of Advantest Corporation. Margo began her legal career at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where she worked with public and private companies through all stages of their development. Margo earned her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington.
As Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Joan is responsible for leading Marketo’s Human Resources operations and practices. Joan has over 25 years of experience in senior HR positions in progressively managed companies, designing and implementing innovative, results-oriented human resources programs and best practices. She began her HR career at John Hancock where she took on a variety of roles in building the human capital of this leading financial services firm. She has held the top HR position at leading technology companies, including Responsys, ZANTAZ and ShoreTel. Joan has a Bachelor of Arts from Albertus Magnus College.
Robin has more than 20 years of partner strategy and marketing experience across both SAAS and traditional industries. As senior vice president of business development, Robin leads Marketo’s Business Development, Strategic Alliances and Partner teams. Prior to Marketo, Robin held several leadership positions, notably VP of Partner Strategy and Alliances at Adobe, and VP Strategic Alliances and GTM at Salesforce. In those roles, she helped to build and define partner value and the model for hyper growth and innovation with and through partners. At SAP Robin joined Global Marketing and then moved to the partner organization to support scale programs through SMB and Channel Partners and Systems Integration Program Management. Robin started her career at Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers building equity and commodity derivative products and markets. Robin holds a B.S.E in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University.
David brings more than 25 years of enterprise and application software architecture and design experience to Marketo. As CTO, he applies his rich technical background to making Marketo’s technology powerful and enterprise class, yet easy-to-use. Most recently, David was CTO at Epiphany, where he led design teams working on metadata-driven applications, rich web user interface technology and highly scalable J2EE-based CRM applications. Before Epiphany, David was chief architect for Red Brick Systems. His earlier experience includes software development and management for Xerox Palo Alto, Network Computing, Inc., Metaphor Computer Systems and Masstor Systems. David holds a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of Wyoming and completed graduate work at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
With more than 25 years of leadership experience in fast-growing global organizations, Greg is responsible for leading the company’s focus on its world-class technology infrastructure, including implementing and evolving information systems and tools that enable aggressive business growth. Most recently, Greg served as CIO at FrontRange Solutions, where he spent the last four years directing and managing all information technology, SaaS operations and facilities functions. Previously, he served as CIO and VP of information systems and technology at Witness Systems, a $250 million public company (acquired by Verint for $1 billion). Prior experience also includes, VP of worldwide customer services for Epiphany (acquired by SSA Global) and leadership positions at Inovis, Peregrine Systems, Harbinger, Premenos and Tandem Computers. Greg holds a degree in computer technology from CDI San Francisco and is also a graduate of Stanford University’s Professional Education program.
As chief scientist, Shankar is responsible for helping design and build Marketo’s next generation platform, applications, and analytics leveraging his deep experience. Shankar was previously appointed an IBM Distinguished Engineer and the CTO for the IBM Analytics Platform, and led IBM initiatives on Hadoop, Spark, and large-scale analytics. Prior to IBM, Shankar built a real-time streaming and dashboarding product that was acquired by Cognos in 2006. His earlier experience included engineering roles at Epiphany, Yodlee, Outride, Remedy, and Informix. Shankar holds an MBA from the HaaS School of Business at UC Berkeley and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from National Institute of Technology at Tiruchirapalli in India.
