About These Features
Batch Email Marketing and Newsletters
Marketo includes a complete email marketing solution that lets you create WYSIWYG emails and newsletters with easy to use design tools; manage and segment lists; send and deliver as many emails as you reasonably need; and track and report on deliveries, opens, and clicks so you get a complete view of email performance. Marketo helps you maintain email list quality with automatic opt-in management, unsubscribe processing, suppression lists, and bounce handling to enable compliance with CAN-SPAM regulations. And it includes the ability to build trusting relationships between sales reps and prospects by personalizing email “from addresses” and signatures on behalf of individual sales reps.
1:1 Triggered Campaigns
Unlike most email marketing solutions, Marketo has the ability to listen for specific customer behaviors and events and respond with an appropriate real-time email. For example, when a prospect clicks on a specific link, a sales rep logs a call, or a lead score goes above a certain threshold, you can automatically send the right message at the right time. Gartner and Jupiter Research have shown that this type of targeting can improve response rates by as much as 500%.
Automated Drip Marketing & Lead Nurturing Campaigns
With Marketo, you can send an email and if the prospect responds to it, automatically send a thank you, but if they don’t, automatically send a reminder after one week. Or, when a new prospect registers on your site or downloads your trial, you can automatically send them a series of intelligent interactions on a regular basis to help educate and nurture the relationship. Since Marketo automates the process of remembering where each prospect is and what their right next step is, you can focus on strategic planning and creative work, not using the tool.
WYSIWYG Landing Pages and Smart Lead Capture Forms
A relevant and optimized landing page generates dramatically higher conversion rates, and with Marketo, creating professional landing pages is as simple as creating a PowerPoint slide. A/B testing lets you learn what works and maximize response rates, and smart forms recognize known visitors and allow you to use ‘progressive profiling’ to learn more about prospects each time they come to your site.
Lead Database and Deduplication
The marketing lead database is the system of record for your most important marketing asset: your leads and contacts. Bi-directionally synchronized with salesforce.com, it goes beyond the data in your CRM system with a rich, single view of all marketing interactions between each prospect and your company, including website visits, email clicks, scoring changes, and so on. Plus, Marketo’s data quality tools help you recognize leads and contacts you already have in your database to prevent duplicates before they come in and merge any duplicates that do exist.
Smart List Management and Segmentation
The ability to precisely segment and target the exact right list of leads and contacts is one of Marketo’s most powerful features. Imagine using a user interface as easy as a Nintendo Wii to pull up a list of high-score leads in a particular region who visited your website in the last seven days; or contacts at active opportunities who registered for an upcoming webinar; or prospects who received an email offer and did not click through but visited your website anyways. These are just a few examples of how Marketo Smart Lists make it easy to microsegment your database and intelligently interact with your leads and contacts.
Web Activity Tracking and Anonymous Company Lookup
Web Activity Tracking lets you know why prospects visit your site, which pages they visit, and how often they come back. It uses anonymous company lookup to tell you who visits your site even if they don’t fill out forms, and can send a daily alert to sales reps so they know which companies are interested. And when a prospect does register, you have the complete history of their prior web activity as part of their record and lead score as well.
Lead Reporting and Campaign Analytics
Marketo includes a complete set of out-of-the-box reports to help you understand everything from how your lead generation is performing to which sources are generating the hottest leads to how your campaigns and programs are affecting leads, opportunities, and closed business. You also get email performance reports, landing page optimization reports, and web activity reports that show you who’s visiting your site and why. And, every report is customizable to meet your specific business needs and goals.
Lead Management
For companies that want to go beyond email and web marketing automation and enjoy the benefits of a complete lead management solution, this adds the ability to create sophisticated lead lifecycle processes, including automated data field updates (e.g. update lead status based on changes to the lead score); real-time alerting based on visitor rules; automated list management; and lead routing / territory assignment rules. It lets you ensure sales follow-up by creating email and phone tasks directly in Salesforce, reassign leads if they don’t follow-up, and convert hot leads to opportunities — all automatically.
Lead Scoring
With Marketo Lead Scoring, you can automatically qualify leads based on demographics and BANT criteria as well as specific behaviors, including recency and frequency. By tracking each of these factors and assigning appropriate weights to each, you get a comprehensive view of prospect interest and engagement.
Custom Security Controls
With user roles, you can assign permissions that align with the tasks that users perform in Marketo. A user role is defined by a set of permissions; roles are then assigned to individual users.
Example user roles include a role that gives access to the Design Studio only, a role that gives the ability to create but not approve landing pages or emails, and a role that can create but not activate a campaign.
Secure Workspaces and Access Zones
A Workspace gives users access to specified assets, including Campaigns, Landing pages, Emails, Smart Lists, and Reports. With Workspaces, you can create different organizational views to align with how your organization is structured. Lead Partitions work in conjunction with Workspaces, and are used to create divisions in the database, giving one or many Workspaces access to the leads that are associated or created in the partition.
Sandbox
The Sandbox provides enterprise customers with permission to create a replica of their Marketo environment for customization, integration, testing, development and training purposes.
Enhanced Email Deliverability Packages
The standard Marketo Lead Management subscription includes email marketing on high-performance servers optimized for maximum email deliverability and reputation management. For Marketo Lead Management customers who need even more control and advanced capabilities, we also provide enhanced email deliverability packages.
