Bruce Cleveland, Partner, InterWest Partners
Bruce Cleveland focuses on investments in the software and services sector with a focus on analytic applications and Software as a Service (SaaS). Cleveland serves on the Board of Directors of Cloud9 Analytics, Marketo, Right90 and Signal Demand. Prior to InterWest, Cleveland was one of the original members of the Siebel executive team. At Siebel, he held numerous executive positions including SVP and GM of Products, SVP and GM of the OnDemand and SMB divisions and Senior VP of Marketing and Alliances. In the latter capacity, he is widely credited with creating the most effective alliance organization in the enterprise software industry. Cleveland also held executive positions in engineering and product management at Apple Computer and Oracle Corporation, and prior to Oracle, he held technical support and management positions at AT&T. Bruce attended the United States Military Academy, West Point, and graduated from California State University, Sacramento.
Doug Pepper, General Partner, InterWest Partners
Doug Pepper has been with InterWest's IT group since 2000, investing in technology-enabled services, digital media and consumer Internet companies. Pepper has led several investments for InterWest including Achates Power, Brand.net, INVIDI, Marketo, OfferPal Media and Varolii. He also co-led InterWest's investment in Lombardi. Pepper has played a defining role in InterWest's investment activities in the online advertising and lead generation spaces. In addition, Pepper serves as a board observer at Markettools and Epocrates. Previously, Pepper has worked in business development at Amazon.com, helping launch Amazon's Auctions and Z-Shops businesses. Prior to Amazon.com, Pepper was a financial analyst at Goldman Sachs in New York focusing primarily on technology and healthcare. In this role, Pepper also spent time in Hong Kong, working with technology clients in China, India and Korea. Pepper received his B.A. from Dartmouth College, and his M.B.A. from Stanford University.
Tae Hea Nahm, General Partner, Storm Ventures
Tae Hea Nahm is a founding general partner of Storm Ventures. At Storm, Tae Hea has invested in Airespace Networks (where he was also the founding CEO, and acquired by Cisco), Berkana Wireless (acquired by Qualcomm), Com2us (KOSDAQ: A078340), McubeWorks (acquired by Core Logic), and OSA Technologies (acquired by Avocent). His investment focus is in wireless, software, semiconductors and East Asia. Prior to Storm, Tae Hea was a founding partner of Venture Law Group, a partner of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and a cofounder of Novera Optics. Since his first client (incorporating StrataCom), Tae Hea has advised and personally invested in startups in various industries, such as communications (JetCell/Cisco, Netro, Ramp Networks/Nokia, StrataCom/Cisco, Telera/Alcatel, Transmedia/Cisco and Xylan/Alcatel), internet and services (AtRoad and Sina.com), life science/materials (Connectics, Landec and General Surgical Innovation/Tyco), semiconductors (ESS Technology, IC Works/Cypress, Marvell Technology and Quality Semiconductor/IDT), and software (Access360/IBM and Gupta Technologies). He holds an AB in Applied Mathematics from Harvard College and a JD from University of Chicago Law School. Tae Hea was born in Seoul, Korea. He serves on the board of East Asia Institute. .
Phil Fernandez, President and CEO
Phil is a 26-year Silicon Valley veteran and has the scars (and a couple of successful IPOs) to prove it. Prior to Marketo, he was President and COO of Epiphany, a public enterprise software company known for its visionary marketing products. Before this, Phil was COO and SVP of Products and Services at Red Brick Systems, a pioneering data warehouse vendor. Earlier, Phil held leadership positions at Metaphor Computer Systems, Stanford University Medical Center, and Masstor Systems. Phil holds a BA from Stanford University.
